Chemical Technology (HBO)
Are you a Chemical Technology student (or studying a related field) who enjoys hands-on work and wants to learn in a real industrial context? As an intern at ToPerform, you’ll work on experimental testing and data-driven analysis related to fouling in industrial piping systems. Want to develop your skills while contributing to innovative sensor technology? We’re excited to meet you!
What will you do?
In this internship, you will:
Mainly focus on performing experiments in the ToPerform Lab
Analyze experimental results and help refine our experimental framework
Work with an existing test setup that allows simulation of different conditions (e.g. types of fouling, plate types, liquid and air flows)
Further develop and expand an existing Design of Experiments (DoE)
Support validation of our sensor technology through structured experimental work
Conduct literature research on the thermal effects of fouling at different stages
Help explore new research questions that arise from experimental results
Document findings and discuss results with the team
Together, we will shape the exact focus of the internship based on your background, interests, and learning goals.
What do you bring?
You are a curious and motivated student with a strong interest in experimental and research-oriented work. You work accurately and critically, show persistence when experiments become challenging, and enjoy exploring questions that do not yet have clear answers.
You are studying Chemical Technology or a closely related field at a University of Applied Sciences (HBO). You are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and you are eager to learn and develop yourself further.
The working language within the team is Dutch, while documentation and reporting are in English. English can also be used as the working language if needed.

You will join a small and innovative team, where learning and collaboration are key. During your internship, you will work on hands-on projects with real impact, supported by experienced colleagues.
The internship is positioned at the intersection of Chemical Technology and data analysis and modelling. From both perspectives, internal expertise and guidance are available.

ToPerform is a technology-driven start-up working with international clients in the chemical industry. We develop innovative sensor technology that measures fouling build-up in industrial piping systems and converts these measurements into data-driven insights.
We are a driven team of six, and are continuously developing and refining our technology and solutions.
Practical details
Location: Meppel, the Netherlands (with the possibility of occasional hybrid working)
Start period: September, or to be discussed
Hours per week: 32–40 hours
